When you suddenly burst into big symptoms three and a half months after implants are put in, it is challenging to get the dentist to believe you that it IS the implants making you ill. But I also felt that I had other issues going on, one of them possibly Lyme disease and another possibly thyroid issues. I went to a naturalpath and asked to have blood work done. I stated that the only way I would do this is if I could get copies of it immediately because I know how to read it and then I can at least change my nutrition and such accordingly. I filled out a twenty some odd page questionaire that included implant questions. I thought that was great that someone would listen. But when we got the actual appointment he told me how much he hated these forms and would prefer something three pages long. When he checked my reflexes he got absolutely no response from either knee. The blood work looked pretty good so he said really the best thing for me to do was yoga because lack of exercise was all that was wrong with me. I left the office with a swollen tongue that was still very cracked along with a red swollen throat, a mild cough and extreme fatigue. They wanted to see me in six months for a follow up. I politely declined and when the receptionist asked me why I would not come back I quietly said that I would prefer someone with experience who would take me seriously. The Lyme was also not addressed by this person and that would be dealt with by me later on in my journey.
My dentist felt I was in the throws of menopause and this would pass and I should see an ears nose and throat person. The dental surgeon, who was the kindest and most concerned, spent some time examining me and felt that I had something called Burning Mouth or Burning Tongue Syndrome that is associated with menopausal women and also could be a vitamin deficiency. She also suggested an ears nose and throat man. When I said that I felt that the implants had caused it she examined them and saw no inflammation around the area and said that she would contact the company in regards to an allergy test. The information I had heard before was that the titanium was considered inert and the chances of being allergic to it in any way shape or form was really slim to none. Well that would be my category was what ran through my head. Slim to none. Bet it's far far more than that.
I do not have dental or medical insurance. The implant company sent two metal discs to test me for allergy. Now wait - didn't they say people are not allergic to this metal but they have a test kit? Shouldn't people be testing prior to implanting? Unless of course one develops the allergic reaction three and a half months later I suppose. So I was referred to a dermatologist. I called that office and was told to bring the discs and they would tape them on me. Then I was to come back to have them removed. Then I was to come back three days later to have the skin patch looked at. Since I had no insurance they needed to look up the cost and it would be an estimate for the time which they assumed would be a total of about fifteen minutes. The call back came with the information that it would be about $400.00 to which my jaw nearly hit the ground. I tried to center myself into a be nice mode and politely told her no thank-you that I would rather walk into a pit of snakes than pay that sort of highway robbery for someone to tape discs on my arm, remove them then look at the skin at the rate of $1600.00 an hour. Bite me.
I also did not agree that testing this was was going to yield any real results since the metal was inside of me not outside. Couldn't there be a difference in reaction? I felt there could and I decided to listen to me.
In the meantime something had to be done to manage living with this sort of fatigue in my whole being and pain in my mouth. Being adept at making diets for sick dogs certainly gave me an edge though I was not about to be chewing on raw knuckle bones any time son. I devised a plan of a high alkaline ph diet. Over a period of time I eliminated all processed foods and absolutely nothing pasteurized. I already drank raw milk and used raw cream of which I have access to here in my own town. But the most important part was making my diet green. I will pick up on diet tomorrow.
